Grain-free dog food

Grain-free dog food has been a topic of conversation for dog owners over the past years. This is because cereals such as corn, wheat and rye are often seen as causes of allergic reactions in dogs. These allergic reactions often manifest themselves in all kinds of unpleasant symptoms such as vomiting, itching and a dull coat. 

At Riverwood we strongly advocate grain-free dog food for the simple reason that dogs are carnivores and not designed to properly digest grains. The combination of grain-free and high meat content makes our food very digestible for all breeds of dogs, especially for dogs with a grain intolerance. Our dog food, snacks and wet food are therefore completely grain-, wheat- and gluten free.

Food made for dogs with allergies 

Hypoallergenic dog food has been specially developed to prevent the risk of allergic reactions. It may be that your dog is allergic to a specific ingredient or multiple ingredients. This can result in, for example, itching, rash, a bad coat, biting in the legs, flatulence or diarrhoea. This, of course, is very unfortunate for your four-legged friend. In most cases, food allergies with dogs are related to beef, chicken or wheat gluten. For this reason we do not use such ingredients in our Riverwood recipes.

Protein dog food with three unique protein sources 

Each Riverwood dog food variety contains three unique sources of protein. Officially, hypoallergenic dog food often contains only one source of protein. At Riverwood, we have taken a slightly different approach.  We have deliberately chosen to include three different protein sources in each variety. These protein sources are all unique and are not often found in dog food. For example, you can choose from natural dog food with turkey, pheasant, lamb, salmon, herring, whitefish, deer, rabbit, wild boar, reindeer and duck.  These are all high quality sources of protein with healthy nutritional values and this makes it the best dog food for dogs with an allergy or food intolerance.
