The Start

John explains that the right nutrition makes animals feel fit and vital. “This is the foundation of Riverwood.” If we as owners are conscious about our own food, why isn’t there 100% natural and conscious food for dogs and cats on the market?

The Design

But… how did Riverwood come about? Developing Riverwood involved a whole process. "We carefully looked at products already on the market to see what we could possibly do better or differently, and we listened closely to the needs and interests of consumers and nutrition experts,” John says. “We weighed, tested, and discussed all the top ingredients from good dog and cat foods, as well as statements we heard or read from dog experts, veterinarians, or behavior therapists. In the end, we only included the very best from nature in Riverwood.” This keeps the food as pure as possible: high meat percentages, no grains or gluten, but fresh vegetables and fruit and a rich blend of powerful herbs. Of course, we don’t use artificial fragrances, colors, flavors, or preservatives. This way, we can bring your pet as close to nature as possible with healthy and tasty food.

So… is Riverwood very unique within dog and cat food? “Absolutely!” John says. "For both dogs and cats, there are 6 different types of delicious food. Because… dogs and cats with intolerances and allergies also deserve high-quality food that is tasty and healthy. Moreover, everyone has their favorite flavor, and that goes for your pet too!" “We are determined to inspire as many people as possible to consciously choose the well-being of their cat or dog so they can build a healthy and sustainable future together. Quality First

When Riverwood was introduced, the products were only available at the better pet specialty stores. A conscious choice, since these stores offer broader service and expert advice. After rapid and significant growth, an online brand store was inevitable!

International Expansion

The fact that this vision and approach work is evident from the fact that Riverwood is now internationally known. “Our products are now also available in countries like France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Bulgaria, and Finland, something we are very proud of. We are far from done growing and hope to make more and more pets and their owners happy worldwide!”
