Foreskin inflammation in dogs

All males make some lubrication under the foreskin, and do not normally need to be cleaned. Suppose there is a purulent and smelly outflow and you find yellow-green pus drops everywhere, then there may be a foreskin inflammation (balanopostitis).

How to develop foreskin inflammation in dogs

Eand foreskin inflammation occurs when bacteria appear on the penis from the outside when they arepeeled  out. These  then place themselves on the inside of the forehuid; it is warm, humid there and there is a good breeding ground.

This problem occurs regularly, especially in uncastrated males. The inflammation usually starts with puppies and once it is there it is difficult to leave.

How do you treat foreskin inflammation in dogs?

Castration is often the only solution. Not every dog has all the complaints gone immediately after castration, but the problems become less. You could also have your dog "chemically" neutering by injection. This works for about 1 month, so you can find out if castration is going to help. What can also improve foreskin inflammation is a homeopathic remedy that reduces sex drive.

In addition to the cause, of course, the inflammation itself must also be treated. A foreskin cleaner is available for this purpose, which is specially made for dogs. This allows you to regularly clean and disinfect the foreskin of the dog. If there is severe inflammation, it may be necessary to give an antibiotic course. Rinsing with lukewarm chamomile tea can also help with mild inflammation. It is then recommended to use a syringe (without a needle) to place the cleaning fluid in the foreskin.
